The Maine Business School (AACSB Accredited) at the University of Maine seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Finance, with an anticipated start date of August 28, 2023 or, if needed, January 2024. This will be a full-time, ongoing appointment, renewed annually based on satisfactory performance. Our primary teaching need are in the areas of Valuation and Corporate Investment Decisions and International Finance.

 

The successful candidate will be expected to be an effective and engaging teacher and establish a research program leading to publications in refereed journals in their area of expertise. Additionally, successful faculty at the Maine Business School make a strong commitment to developing innovative curricula, advising and mentoring undergraduates in pursuit of their academic and research goals, and collaborating with colleagues to increase student success. The position will offer a competitive salary, research support, and a teaching load commensurate with similar-sized research universities.

 

The typical teaching load is two courses per semester at the undergraduate level for the first two years, after which you will teach a load of three courses one semester and two courses one semester. The candidate will be expected to participate in maintenance of AACSB accreditation and remain qualified. Service to the School, University, and in the Community is required. The candidate should also foster collaborative relationships with the business community.

The successful candidate is required to have a Ph.D. (or its equivalent) from an AACSB-accredited program or be ABD with an anticipated graduation date of no later than January 2024. Preference will be given to candidates with documented evidence of quality teaching, who demonstrate an ability to engage in quality research, and those with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Professional certification and relevant professional experience are a plus. 

The Maine Business School (umaine.edu/business) is an AACSB Accredited institution offering both BS and MBA degrees. The Maine Business School hosts six majors (Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Sport Management, and Business Information Systems – Security Management) and two concentrations (Entrepreneurship and Innovation and International Business), as well as several minors. The Graduate School of Business offers an online MBA, as well as several concentrations and dual-degree options. The School currently has 33 full-time faculty members and enrolls approximately 1,250 undergraduate and 315 graduate students.
