The purpose of this position is to support data collection and analysis, report writing, and dissemination of findings for project and program evaluations under the direction of the RiSE Center’s Research and Evaluation Coordinator. The Program Evaluation Specialist will use qualitative and quantitative methods to support both formative and summative evaluation of projects and programs. The Program Evaluation Specialist will also communicate results and findings to project leaders and stakeholders in order to support, inform, and strengthen integration of STEM education research into practice. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is $48,000 - $50,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience for a full-time position or $38,400-$40,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience for a part-time (32-hour per week) position.

 

About the RiSE Center: The Maine Center for Research in STEM Education (RiSE Center) is an interdisciplinary Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education Research Center located at the University of Maine. The Center brings together STEM faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate students, PreK-12 teachers , and collaborators to conduct education research, provide evidence-based, professional learning, and coordinate programs to improve STEM education at all levels of instruction. Its mission is to advance the research and practice of teaching and learning in the STEM disciplines.

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) discipline or in STEM education, or equivalent.
  • Experience conducting and coordinating classroom and discipline-based education research or program/project evaluations. 
  • Exceptionally strong organizational abilities.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline or in STEM education.
  • Experience in research or program evaluation.
